Geocache Description:

Battery Cheves is one former artillery battery among many built on James Island in 1863. Alongside the nearby Battery Simpkins and Battery Haskell, Battery Cheves attempted to repel Union forces from occupying the harbor. After the Confederacy evacuated Charleston in 1865, battery Cheves was abandoned and all that remains today is a 1-acre plot of forest in the Fort Johnson estates neighborhood.

The cache is located on a small trail leading into the battery. You are looking for a medium-sized tupperware container clearly marked as a geocache. The trail is unpaved, so remain cautious for vines, logs, and mosquitos while searching. Please be respectful of neighbors in the area. Token included for whoever is the FTF.
