We’ve added another cache on the way to (or from) our Five Lakes Lookout cache to encourage more visitors on this great hiking and biking trail. As part of our Good Place for a Cache series, each cache location provides a view of at least one of the five lakes too.
When we hiked the lookout loop recently, we noticed more trail signage and markers have been added over the summer. We took the new-to-us 007 trail down and found a Good Place for a Cache along the way with a glimpse of a lake.
It’s the same access as for Five Lakes Lookout:
Park beside Green Lake Road at the south end of Mahoney Lake. Go through the gate for Mt Keogan. Look for a trail to the left about 80 m in, after a big clump of bushes. It can be a bit overgrown at times depending on use. The trail generally heads east with a few zigzags, then south. It has a few markers on trees here and there, but mostly you follow the obvious path. You could go back the same way or keep going on the regular Mt Keogan trails to make a loop of it (and pick up more caches).
