This cache is hidden at the Woodlands Full Primary School Outdoor Learning Area in conjunction with the children from the school and with full permission.
Parking is available across the road and then follow your nose across the stile. The children will be helping to look after this cache so if you have any positive thoughts about their OLA, feel free to leave a note in the logbook for them - they will enjoy reading it!
The Outdoor Learning Area (OLA) was created by students from Woodlands Full Primary School in 2012. 308 native plants were planted along the Waihopai River and in the area to improve water quality. The area was also made for students to learn and use as an outdoor classroom.
Students planted native trees and plants for native birds and insects to thrive in. In 2019 the school won the Environment Southland Education Award for the OLA area. A shed was built so if it rains students won’t get wet and they can display their learning. The picnic tables are for people to eat and learn about our environment.
The OLA has a lizard lounge which has been made out of recycled materials. It also has a Frog pond where tadpoles and frogs grow and then get released back into the Waihopai River.
Explore the area and check out the flax maze and Mt Everest hill in the OLA. Can you spot them both?
You will find some swaps in the container, which is a 2L box. Please return the geocache back to its original spot and out of sight for others to find. Please respect the area and practice CITO to help the children keep the OLA looking beautiful.
