Fog Rover 1
This cache is part of a series of eight Fog Rover caches to be found on the trail from US 101 to the summit of Neahkahnie Mountain.
Start with Neahkahnie Trailhead West with parking just across the highway.
All eight caches can be found either right from the trail or just a few steps from the trail, so there is never a need to disturb any vegetation. The caches are all disguised with natural elements (leaves, moss and sticks) and blend in well with their surroundings.
Due to the thick tree cover, GPS reception is often iffy, so please use the hints which are designed for quick and easy location.
This series replaces eight now-archived caches, many of which were the victims of a devasting windstorm which caused the trail to be closed for an extended time. The fallen trees have now been cleared from the trail and you will witness some of the damage halfway or so through the hike.
After finding Fog Rover 1 through 8, you can continue a short distance further to Neahkahnie Summit, where on clear days you can expect a spectacular view.
