The Shkopet bridge is named by the lake it crosses. There are several suspension bridges like this in the Mat river surroundings.
Shkopet lake (Liqeni i Shkopetit) is a smaller artificial reservoir of the Mat river. The larger upstream reservoir called Lake Ulëz (Liqeni i Ulzës) is formed by the dam of Ulëz Hydroelectric Power Station 5 km east. The Shkopet lake forms a narrow gorge through a mountain range that separates Mat district from the Adriatic Sea. The length of Lake Shkopet is 11 km, width 240 m, and depth 75 m.
What’s interesting about this zone is the fact that nature is untouched and locals there are very friendly.
Its a great spot for hiking, exploring, kayaking, birdwatching or just enjoying the beautiful views.
There are smaller restaurants and cafes nearby during season.
The road is curvy but well prepared, so it is accessible for a all size of car or campers.
You need to park at the road and walk down the gravel path.
At the end of the bridge turn left and follow the path that leads to the river.
Its a nice spot for swimming and relaxing.
