It is again possible to walk the inland route from Whatipu to Karekare.
Walking along the Pararaha Valley track, you will pass the junction of the closed Buck Taylor Track (which joins to the Zion Hill Track). As you walk past, you will see the beginnings of the tracks upgrade, although the re-opening appears to be many months away.
For now, enjoy the walk along this new section, a 92 metre bridge/high boardwalk and a 144 metre section of low boardwalk which re-opened to the public in April 2022, after being closed in May 2018.
