Patriot Park is a six-acre park features numerous shade structures and lots of trees, barbecue stands, clean restrooms and a walking path around the park. The park also honoring US Army serviceman Ming Sun from Cathedral City who was killed in Iraq with a larger-than-life bronze statue. You can also find , a black steel Monument entitled “Diamond” by artist Richard Johnston.
A great place to visit on or around Veterans Day as you will see a forest of American flags on the corner of Dinah Shore and Date Palm. The Rotary Club organizes this annual salute to fallen service men and women of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. There are over 5,000 flags there, each honoring one or two heroes identified via tags attached to the flags. Very moving, and beautifully and thoughtfully done.
