Geocache Description:

Welcome to my 2nd cache!!

There used to be a similar cache about 1,100 feet east named Blue Maguey, but Richard The Owner wandered off & let the cache become archived. So, I took the container from GZ & am now repurposing it as my own cache. It's a basic park & grab for most. If you don't want to read about the small history of this cache or how it was (re)born, then scroll down to cache details.

Story time!!

There used to be a restaurant next to Little Blue River called "Jazz, A Louisiana Kitchen". Who knows what this place will be when you read this, but Jazz shut down permanently in October 2022, for reasons I don't know (besides mediocre "Cajun" food, but I say that as a former resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast).

GC3T80Y was the code for Blue Maguey. It stood the test of time for about 10 years, gaining 514 finds. I remember when I 1st got into Geocaching in September 2021, I actually logged this as a DNF. 2 weeks later, after learning from another similar cache, I was able to put pen to paper & chuckled at how easy this actually was. Since then, I would occasionally glance at the logs after mine, out of curiosity.

Then, on June 2022, the 1st nail called Theft was hit on the coffin. The owner wasn't able to replace the stolen cache until August. I thought surely it would live on once replaced. But, another nail called Forget was added. 3 more nails called Warning would be added to the coffin once per month, reminding the owner to enable it, but in vain. The final nail called Archive sealed the coffin on December, despite my note saying it was there. So, I went & took the container.

It took more effort than it should to make this cache happen. I wanted to keep this at Blue Maguey's original location, but the property owner of that block said no. I then moved it to the restaurant next door where I thought I got the green light. Next day, it was gone. I thought it got stolen, but turns out it was just 3 employees who took it & moved it, not knowing how the game worked. I then was able to pick it up in the restaurant's office, but was met with bad news: the owner said no. But honestly, I think it was for the best.

You see, many people are familiar with the Little Blue Trace bike trail where Blue Maguey used to be. But when I was searching for this container's new home, I saw a neat vista of Camp Creek. This creek flows from Noland Road, fills up Waterfall Park's lake by Bass Pro, then meanders through this area before emptying into Little Blue River. While the view might not be the best, it's still a neat part of Indepencence that I for sure have never seen.

Cache Details

This container is a pill bottle big enough to trade small prizes, just don't get carried away (& definitely DO NOT carry it away).

FTF prize is either the trackable or a hexbug nano (there used to be 3 hexbugs, but 1 got taken). Please pick only 1 prize. Other finders please trade prizes of around equal value or TNLN.

Hope you enjoy the (C+) vista of the creek while you're here!!
