Guangzhou's original greenways program in 2010 provided some attractive links, including parts of what is now the blueway ecological belt (碧道), as each district formed greenways divisions and were given strict numeric targets for greenway implementation. Unfortunately many of the greenways were just lines painted on the road or walkway without any real thought or commitment going into making them continuous and function. The blueway often succeeds in this area where the greenways failed, providing continuous connections even where major roads are encountered. (Of course the blueways still leave plenty of room for improvement, with connectivity cut off at some roads.)
This location provides an example of how the blueway manages to maintain continuity, albeit probably through luck rather than good management. It is not particularly easy to find the connection across the roadway, around the path and up the ramps, but still it's reasonably continuous.
Amidst all the trucks in the area it's easy to overlook the fact that a railway line - the main line connecting Guangzhou to Hong Kong until the opening of the High Speed Rail further south - passes through the area too.
