Cache #174
The Federation Council is a local government area located in the Riverina region of New South Wales, Australia. This area was formed in 2016 from the merger of the Corowa Shire with its neighbouring Urana Shire. These caches are some random additions to encourage more visitors to this part of the world.
Other than the Murray River in the south the two major waterways in Federation Shire are Yanco Creek (on the northern boundary) and Billabong Creek. This latter flows through the middle of the shire starting at Holbrook in the east and finishing in the Edward River near Moulamein. The red gums are a significant vegetation feature in the flat grassland and cropping areas that dominate this part of the world.
This was originally going to be a typical guard rail cache but I found a more interesting hide a little way into the grass (please replace carefully to retain the integrity). Access may be limited when the creek is high. Please park to the north and be aware of traffic - plenty of trucks use this road. Not one for pets and kids.
Enjoy!
