To the north of this cache are four huge plots, each around 20 hectares in size, providing a small illustration of the variety and high-tech nature of development in Luogang.
First, to the northwest, is Guangdong's largest banknote printing compound which includes an appendage allocated to a military unit on the perimeter.
Next, directly north of the cache across the canal, is a huge new 'Xiangxue City' (香雪城) commercial oriented development under construction as part of a joint venture between the Poly Group and Huamei. Xiangxue is already the most vibrant of the Line 6 metro stations in Luogang and this huge new development will further enhance it's appeal by providing a direct connect to the metro station on the northern perimeter. Unlike projects which start by clearing away urban villages, this development is replacing a cluster of five large office and mall buildings build around 2010. Little did they know that the buildings would last less than a decade before being demolished. While some such redevelopments work with the existing structures, in this case all but one of the existing buildings has been demolished. It will probably open later in 2023.
Directly alongside 'Xiangxue City' is a Japanese JV funded automobile manufacturing plant that doesn't manufacture engines but works on many other aspects. It reportedly has 22,000 employees, at least some of whom enjoy the new blueway and serene canal views.
Finally, a kilometre east of the cache is a huge cluster of towers build on top of the line 6 metro depot, which is described in another cache.
Interspersed with these four huge plots is a variety of large residential complexes to the south and some smaller commercial enterprises, and winding past all of them is the impressively continuous Nangang River ecological belt bikeway/walkway.
