Higashimurayama Central Park was developed to preserve and regenerate this greenery in this area where the nature of Musashino remains strong.

This site used to be the former site of MITI's Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (one of the predecessors of today's National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology).
The park was converted into a park as a use of the former site and opened in 1986.
The park is largely divided into areas such as multipurpose plaza, playground equipment plaza, woodland, and environmental symbiosis and conservation.

東村山中央公園は、武蔵野の自然が色濃く残るこの地に、この緑の保全と再生をめざして整備されました。
公園の東・西地区の樹林を中心として、バードサンクチュアリ、流れ、ゲートボール場、じゃぶじゃぶ池などがあります。
また、狭山・境緑道に隣接しており、サイクリングロードのオアシスになっています。
この場所は以前通産省機械技術研究所（現在の産業総合研究所の前身の一つ）があった場所です。
その跡地利用として公園化されて1986年に開園しました。
公園内は、多目的広場、遊具広場、樹林、環境共生・保全などに大きくエリア分けされています。
キャッシュは西高校口の近くに設置しました。
近くには環境共生・保全ゾーンのバードサンクチュアリがあります。
