Established in 1978, the community of Dellslow derived its name from Fredelsloh, Germany, the hometown of an early settler. Not far from the cache area near what is now Maverik's Hot Spot was the Valley Furnace, similar to the big Henry Clay Furnace at Coopers Rock, it took ore from the surrounding area and made pig iron. There are pits at the WV Botanic Garden along the Mine Pit Trail that show evidence of this community-wide industrial activity.

Alternate uses for your geocache (not covered by warranty): 1) You can use it as a difficult to hold onto castanet. You will be the hit of flamenco night! 2) You can fan yourself with it when you're at the beach. It's a great way to work out your arms. 3) You can toss it like a frisbee. It will probably last three tosses before someone drops it in Deckers Creek though. 4) You can use it under the short leg of the wobbly table.

Magnets are made of magic. Once upon a time, a wizard was visiting Deckers Creek and cast spells on some unassuming geocaches that made them move when you used a magnet on them. He was wearing a big tunic with stars and moons on it. And a big pointy hat, of course. Not a very original wizard, but at least this time he wasn't kidding around like he usually does.
