Just 30m below this spot in the gully two Forests Commission employees from Daylesford, Alan Lynch and Des Collins, were killed in a bushfire when their bulldozer was overrun by fire. The track is overgrown now.
The fire occurred on the 8 January 1983 and was just a few weeks before the catastrophic Ash Wednesday bushfires where 75 people died in Victoria and South Australia.
