This cache is smack bang at the start or end (depending on which way you walk) of a great little walk that our family has done many times over the years. It follows a made path through a wooded area with the Lakes Entrance Golf Course on one side and the ‘poo factory’ (as we call it) on the other. Okay, I probably lost you there but bear with me.
You follow the beautifully maintained golf course with its always green fairways, tees and greens. Why are they always green you ask? Because they have access to all the reclaimed water they want thanks to the ‘poo factory’ – one of the main reasons they were placed so close to each other back in the day. Listen closely and you will hear the roar of the sea just a couple of fairways across. You will also hear the whack of a ball but don’t listen too closely just in case that ball didn’t quite go where it was supposed to go!!
As you walk from the Lakes Entrance end up to Bunga you pass a number of different ponds on your left behind a hurricane fence. The ‘bad stuff’ goes in the first pond and is mixed and aerated to break down the waste. As it travels down the different ponds it is broken down more and more until it’s good to be used on the golf course or pumped up high and gravity fed to a number of places around outer Lakes Entrance.
I must stay it very rarely smells and if I didn’t tell you, you probably wouldn’t have guessed and hey, it’s got to go somewhere.
The cache is a 350ml decor/sistema countainer and has room for small swaps and trackables.
