“L” is for Lab Cache – Let the Adventures Begin
Who? Anyone who is a Geocacher, interested in becoming one, or even a muggle friend or family member
What? Weekly RGV Geocaching Breakfast Meet & Greet *NOTE* purchase of food items is always optional however, fun and fellowship is a given.

Why? Share stories, tips & tricks of the game, assist with solving mystery/puzzle caches and share/trade trackables.
This season each event is part of an alpha series of titles highlighting a term used in Geocaching. Today’s event is brought to you by the letter “L” for Lab Cache.
Lab Caches: Began as an experimental Geocache type that allowed Geocaching HQs to test a new concept at Mega Events. In the last couple of years, GC HQs has awarded Geocachers with an Adventure Lab credit allowing them to use the AL builder and create a 5 to 10 location Adventure. Today, Geocachers can request an AL credit from HQs.
What’s the difference between an AL and a Multi-Stage Cache?
- Multi-Stage requires a physical container – AL may have a BONUS physical container, but doesn’t require one
- Multi-Stage player earns ONE Smiley regardless of the number of stages – AL awards a Smiley for EVERY location
- Multi-Stage can be played on any GPS enabled device – AL requires a special Adventure Lab app and a Smart Device such as a Cell Phone or Tablet
- Multi-Stage must be reviewed & published by a Reviewer – AL is published by the owner who may have a friend pretest it first
- Multi-Stage Cache is included when you query your total finds – ALs show up in your total count on your profile, but do not appear in your query. You must enter them manually.

Where do you request an Adventure Lab Credit?
You MUST be a PREMIUM member, have found at least 2 Lab Caches AND do NOT currently have an unused credit. It may take some time to receive the credit so patience is a virtue.
