It's January and time again to gather in from the cold. Come to share stories, swap trackables, say "hi" to old friends and meet new ones. The event lasts from 11 AM to 1 PM. We will be in the back dining room of the restuarant. There are buffet and menu options.
We'll pass around some Valentines for the residents at the Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson, Kentucky. Anyone who would like can write a message on the cards before we deliver them the following week.
As we have at past Share the Love events, we will also collect any donations you would like to send to the Veterans. Donations are not required for logging attendence at the event.
Carol (of KyTravelers) spoke to the new Activities Director and has been told that they are NOT ACCEPTING BIRDSEED at this time, but they would appreciate other donations. They would like individually wrapped Little Debbie snack cakes, Russell Stovers sugarfree candy, Reese's, Milky Way, and Hershey's - but nothing which is hard to chew or has nuts. They would like 8-ounce, screw-top sodas, and Splash mango V8 drinks were specifically mentioned. Tempra paint, white art canvases, sketch pads, Modpodge, and sponge brushes were requested. They could also use white-faced wall clocks, universal remotes, batteries (AA, AAA), sound machines, or weighted blankets. They would also enjoy CD's that you might have and not be using. Classic country, gospel, jazz (and my favorite) CCR were mentioned.
The event is at Los Compadres Mexican Restuarant at 4011 Ft. Campbell Blvd, Hopkinsville, KY. From I-24, take exit 86 to go north on Hwy 41 toward Hopkinsville. Once you reach Hopkinsville and follow Hwy 41 under the Pennyrile Pkwy overpass, you'll need to enter the left-turn lane which begins in front of Shoney's to make the turn onto Old Clarksville Pike and the parking lot.
