Sweet Charolais! Traditional Cache

This cache is temporarily unavailable.

Mongo: Greetings,

This geocache looks like it might need some attention. The recent logs may contain more details about what sort of maintenance needs to be performed. This could be anything from a new logbook to replacing a missing container. Here are the things we need for you to perform.

  • Write a note: If you are unable to provide maintenance then post a note detailing exactly what your plan is. This will give you around thirty (30) days to accomplish maintenance on the geocache. Ownership after publication.
  • Maintenance: Visit your geocache, make any needed repairs, and post an “Owner Maintenance” log so the community knows it’s available to find. By posting an Owner maintenance log it will automatically remove the "Owner attention requested" icon.
  • Archive: If you decide it is time for your geocache to be permanently retired, please archive the listing and retrieve all physical stages. If a cache is archived by a reviewer or staff for lack of maintenance, it will not be unarchived.

For tips about how to perform maintenance and to learn why Geocaching HQ sends occasional geocache maintenance reminders, please see this Help Center article.

Thanks,
Mongo

Geocache Description:

Bonjour!

This quick Park and Grab cache was intentionally placed where you could get wonderful glimpses of a local Charolais cattle ranch while on your drive!

These gorgeous cattle are beige/white in color, with cute pink noses, and happen to be a favorite of my mom's and now a favorite of ours! We are fortunate to drive by these beauties daily!
These cattle originated from the old French provinces of Charolles and neighboring Nievre! They are one of the oldest breeds!
It was only after the second world war that Charolais made its appearance in other parts of the world. At first small exports, such as four bulls and six females to Brazil in 1950; five bulls and eleven females to Argentina in 1955; one bull and three cows to South Africa in 1955 followed by three bulls and 15 females in 1956, took place. This small trickle developed into a big stream. In 1964 for instance 259 bulls and 1,605 cows were exported from France and this trend is still increasing.

The Charolais make excellent beef cattle, reigning supreme in quality and flavor.  They are great milkers, and calve well!  The Charolais is larger and heavier than Angus and Limousin, and is excellent in hotter climates but not as resistant to cold weather. Docility is a feature, making these beautiful cattle fairly easy to work with!

We consider ourselves very lucky to be near such a beautiful cattle ranch with these adorable Charolais!

**First to Find will get Credit!**

This Cache is rather "Devious" in nature, and is very much near-or-at-ground zero.  There is enough space to pullover on the rightside of where this cache is located, but please be mindful of others!  At this "stop", if you turn Right and drive down to the circle dead-end, you will get a beautiful view of the area, and maybe catch glimpses of these cattle - especially on beautiful warm days! On your way to and from this geocache, you'll see many horses and other cows!  PLEASE be mindful of this cache, place it back where it originally was put, be mindful of muggles and farmers, Cach-in Trash Out - you get the idea!

Happy Caching!
