Pelican Ponds Open Space is one of my family's favorites, with beautiful trails and a kids friendly, natural palyground. A frisbee golf course was recently added and is quite popular.
Pelican Ponds is a 200-acre open space property located along the west bank of the South Platte River at 9200 Riverdale Rd., Thornton, that opened to the public in June 2019.
The project is complete and includes trails and walking paths along with small shelters and fishing along the ponds further into the property. It also connects to the South Platte River Trail and is currently open for use.
This is our second hide in Pelican Ponds, about a five minute walk from the main parking lot.
