Morning Mountain Recreation Area is located in the rural community of Blewett, approximately 4km west of the City of Nelson, via Blewett Road. The facility is accessed via Blewett Ski Hill Road which is a gravel road that switchbacks for 1.2 kms to the parking area.
Morning Mountain offers a variety of trails for hiking, biking, and snowshoeing. These trails take you through dark cedar forests and large meadows, as well the area offers many scenic views......it just depends on how energetic you are.
For this Adevnture we parked in the upper parking lot and accended via the "Oilcan Trail"........placing caches as we went. We joined the "Bottoms Up" Trail and then returned via the old Ski Hill Road.
This series of caches could be done as a slightly extended hike while doing the "Morning Mountain" caches.
You are looking for a large pop bottle blank.
Note: Do not hike the "Black Diamond" trails.
The nice thing about a network of trails is that you can pick your level. The bad thing is that you can get lost. Note that a couple of the trails in the area do not lead back to the main parking lot and instead come out on Granite Road.
We hid this series of caches in the winter. We stayed on the main trails which were well packed so we did not need our snowshoes. Grippers might be very helpful if the trails are icy.
