Cat's Hill is a one-block long, 23% grade, hill near downtown Los Gatos that is part of the annual Cat's Hill Criterium bicycle race sponsored by the Los Gatos Bicycle Racing Club. The course itself is a one mile loop with the riders completing anywhere from three to 20+ loops (thus climbing Cat's Hill three to 20+ times), depending on their race category. This race is held at the beginning of May each year and attracts racers ranging from junior to pro levels. Information about this race can be found at http://www.catshill.org/.
This three part multi-cache will take you up Cat's Hill and then to a nearby park which is also part of the Cat's Hill race course. All three stages are within short walking distances of each other. You do not need to enter private property on any of the stages. Park hours are from 7am to 30 minutes after sunset. The park tends to be busy, so please be stealthy even though the cache is hidden in a less active location of the park. You do not need to trample any plants to get to the actual cache. Bike, kid, and dog friendly.
Stage 1 is located at N 37° 13.656' W 121° 59.138'
Look down and you will see a large somewhat rectangular metal object with five words written on it.
A = number of letters in the first word
B = total number of "I's"
C = total number of "A's"
Stage 2 is located at N 37° 13.667' W 121° 59.167'
Look up and you will see a large three digit number high up on this tall skinny structure.
XXX = the three digit number plus 82
As of 8/22/2012, the middle digit is missing. It is suppose to be a "0".
Stage 3 is the location of the actual cache at N 37° 13.ABC' W 121° 59.XXX'
Have fun! If you rode your bicycle up the hill, be sure to brag about here in your log!
The cache is in a "beach safe" tube camoflaged container, suitable for small cache items.
