This cache will take you to two of the smallest park in Portland. Easy walk on the city sidewalks.
At the above coordinates you will find the second smallest park I know of. It contains several momentos from years gone by. From the info available here you can answer the following two questions and then plug the answers in the equations to find your final coordinates. The park at the final coordinates is way too small for anything but a virtual cache. I discovered this while wandering one night many years ago and think it is one of the cooler claims to fame that Portland has. In order to get proper credit for this find you need to email me either a) the date this park was dedicated or b) the name of the head inhabitant of the park.
Question #1 -
XXX = What was the population of Portland on the first issue?
Question #2 -
YYY = How many square miles were devastated by the event shown on the 1980 issue?
Equation #1 -
AA = (YYY/10)*6
Equation #2 -
B = XXX/95
Final Coordinates -
N 45 31.064 - 0AA
W 122 40.406 - 00B
The final coordinates are actually not quite in the park. They are for a sign that explains about the park and how it came to be. You will understand why when you find it...
