Located on a hill above the neighborhoods worst hit by the Cedar Creek fire in Scripps Ranch. A 1-minute uphill hike, then flat for 1/4 mile to the cache.
This cache was originally placed more than a year before the October 26, 2003 fire that swept through this neighborhood, destroying 300+ homes including our own. You will drive past our destroyed home on Pinecastle Street en-route to this cache. The original cache was destroyed by the fire and was replaced on 11/30/03 with a new container and swag. PLEASE BE RESPECTFUL OF RESIDENTS AND STAY OFF PRIVATE PROPERTY. I WILL ARCHIVE THIS CACHE IF I GET ANY "LOOKIE-LOO" COMPLAINTS FROM OUR NEIGHBORS. The original cache page description follows: This two-stage multi-cache takes you to the top of a hill with a great view of all of Scripps Ranch and a Navy shooting range. From the starting point, position yourself between the trees looking towards the street. You will see a street sign with a 5-digit number. In the following coordinates, the sum of the 5-digits is equal to X, and Y = 2X: 32ºN 54.0Y9’ 117ºW 03.7X6’ In addition to the log book, pens and Geocache instruction letter, the original contents are as follows: · American Flag pen · Titleist golf ball with initials EMS; · Doug key chain; · Padres pin; · Juan Gonzalez Fleer Futures Baseball card; and · Boy Scout compass. Take something, leave something, and please leave the cache as well-hidden as before. Please re-seal the cap tightly by twisting the wingnut until the rubber seal is very tightly pressed against the inside of the pipe and the top is firmly secured. Happy Hunting!!
