There used to be a cache by mm1617 at this location, but it has been archived, so this is a new installation.
Meguro-dori Avenue (from Otori Shrine to Yakumo 1-chome) is commonly known as "Interior Street" because it is dotted with unique furniture and interior design stores of all sizes. The cache is located near the former racecourse intersection.
Moto-racecourse is named after a horse racecourse that once stood near here.
The racetrack was called Meguro Racecourse, and horse races were held here from 1907 to 1933.
The first Japan Derby was held here in 1932.
To preserve this memory, a statue of the thoroughbred TOURNESOL, which was a dominant force at the time, has been erected on the opposite side of this intersection.

以前この場所にはmm1617さんのキャッシュ(https://coord.info/GC4RKBA)がありましたが、アーカイブされたので新たに設置したものです。
目黒通り（大鳥神社〜八雲1丁目まで）は大小の個性豊かな家具やインテリアのショップが点在していることから、通称「インテリア通り」と呼ばれています。キャッシュは、元競馬場交差点近くに設置しました。
元競馬場はかつてこの近くに競馬場があったことから名前が付けられています。
競馬場は目黒競馬場と呼ばれ、明治40年（1907年）から昭和8年（1933年）までこの地で競馬が行われました。
昭和7年には第１回日本ダービーが開催されています。
この記憶を残すためにこの交差点の反対側には当時圧倒的な力を誇ったサラブレッドのトウルヌソル号の像が建てられています。
