NUNAVUT SANGINIVUT

Après 6 ans d'absence, un groupe de géocacheurs estriens
a décidé de remettre le cap sur le Nunavut et d'en faire
profiter tous et chacun !

La rencontre se tiendra sur un îlot, situé au Nunavut,
à environ 800m au sud de la plage, à l'extrémité ouest
du chemin de Chisasibi (route de la Baie James) au Québec,
le mercredi 9 août 2023, de 10h00 à 11h00,
aux coordonnées suivantes :
N53°46.810 W079°04.130

L'embarquement se fera autour de 9h00
aux coordonnées suivantes :
N53°47.190 W079°04.700

Le registre de présences sera disponible durant toute la
durée de la rencontre ainsi qu'au retour sur la terre ferme.

Comment s'y rendre :
C'est par vos propres moyens que vous devez vous rendre
à Radisson. À cet endroit vous trouverez un
camping et autres lieux d'hébergement.
Pour votre information, il faut compter tout près de
17h de route pour se rendre de Sherbrooke jusqu'à
Radisson (en excluant les divers arrêts
inhérents à un tel parcours) et dont la distance totale
avoisine les 1 500 km.

Vous trouverez du WiFi et des douches au relais routier
du KM 381, et ce sera d'ailleurs le seul endroit pour
faire le plein d'essence entre Matagami et Radisson.

Cela veut donc dire que c'est un
" road-trip " de 3000 km et 34h de route.

Pour se rendre sur l'île, vous ne pouvez pas prendre votre
propre embarcation (pour une question de sécurité) mais
nous allons réserver d'avance des places abord d'embarcations
opérées par des membres de la communauté Cris de Chisasibi.
Naturellement, il sera important d'être habillé pour affronter
la température et les intempéries d'une telle traversée en ayant des
bottes de pluie, un manteau imperméable, des vêtements chauds
et un gilet de sauvetage ! Le prix par personne pour se
rendre à l'île, incluant le guide, serait autour de 35$ ±.

Dans votre " will attend " indiquez le nombre de personnes
présentes correspondant aux places à réserver
dans les embarcations.

After a 6-year absence, a group of Eastern Townships
geocachers decided to head back to Nunavut and
to open the event to other geocachers for
their enjoyment!

The meeting will be held on an islet, located in
Nunavut, about 800m south of the beach, at the western
end of Chemin Chisasibi (route de la Baie-James) in Quebec,
on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, from 10 to 11 am,
at the following coordinates:
N53°46.810 W079°04.130

Boarding will be at about 9 am
at the following coordinates:
N53°47.190 W079°04.700

The attendance register will be available throughout the
meeting as well as after the return to dry land.

How to get there:
Travel to Radisson by your own means. There you will
find a campground and other accommodations. For your
information, it's a 17 hours drive from Sherbrooke
to Radisson (excluding the various stops inherent
in such a trip) for a total distance around 1,500 km.

There are showers and wifi at the truck stop at KM 381,
which is the only spot to gas up between Matagami
and Radisson.

So, a round trip of 3,000 km and 34 hours of driving.

To get to the island, you may not take your own
boat (for safety reasons); but we will make
advance reservations for the boats operated by members
of the Crees community of Chisasibi. Naturally, it will
be important to be dressed to confront the temperature
and bad weather of such a crossing by having rain boots,
a waterproof coat, warm clothes and a life jacket!
The price per person for the trip to the island,
including the fee for the guide, would be around $35 ±.
