By Pennsylvania Law dogs and cats must get vaccinated for rabies once they have reached 12-16wks of age. Rabies can fatal to humans. Many animals can get infected with rabies. Some of the common wild animals that can get infected with rabies are: racoons, opossum, fox, and coyotes. (That is not a comprehensive list of animals capable of contracting rabies.) If you observe the species listed during the day, avoid them, they are all primarily nocturnal and should be sleeping during daylight.
Pennsylvania law also requires that you register your dog or cat with the county you live in. In Bucks County if you microchip your pet you can get a lifetime registration, which over time is much cheaper than paying for it yearly.
Always keep your guard up when geocaching or when socializing with animals of any kind.
