BYOP. This is the first stop in the wonderful Queen City coming from Wyoming. Spearfish was called the Queen City because of the hills, cliffs, and bluffs surrounding the area resembling a crown. Spearfish is named for the creek that runs through it that the native Sioux tribe used to spear fish. The creek is shallow enough it makes the perfect spot for it. If it is warm and you have the opportunity the drive through Spearfish canyon is scenic and beautiful. Spearfish holds two world records: one for the creek which freezes from the bottom up making it the only one in the world to do so, and fastest/greatest temperature change due to the Chinook Winds on January 22, 1943. The temp rose from -4° F to +45° F in two minutes. Then back down to -4° F from 54° F making windows crack and windshields frost over isntantly.
