This cache is located on a part of Tooting common that marks the boundaries of Streatham and Tooting Parishes. There used to be a small stream running through this spot called Falcon Brook.
Dr Samuel Johnson was an English writer who is remembered as a renowned poet, essayist, moralist, literary critic, biographer, editor and lexicographer. Dr Johnson is said to have walked here from Streatham Place while visiting British diarist and patron of the arts, Hester Thrale, when this was just a country path.
