El Cerro de Xochitepec

Este cache pertenece a la serie "Arqueología Perdida" y corresponde al último de la serie de 6 geocaches. Esta serie te llevará a lugares arqueológicos poco conocidos al sur de la CDMX y te mostrará un poco de la historia prehispánica que se ubica en las alcaldías de Xochimilco y Milpa Alta. Por favor cuida este patrimonio nacional, y no te lleves ningún vestigio en caso de encontrarlo.

El Reto:

Para poder localizar este contenedor deberás de encontrar todos los demás contenedores de la serie "Arqueología Perdida", ya que en cada contenedor hay una pista que te permitirá obtener las coordenadas finales para llegar al logbook de este geocache. Para aquellos que terminen el reto, los espera una pequeña recompensa en el contenedor: ¡Se trata de una moneda conmemorativa que te podrás llevar a casa!

Notas: 

• El contenedor solo tiene 5 monedas a la vez.
• Si planeas ir con un grupo grande puedes mandarme mensaje con anticipación (unos días antes), indicando el número de integrantes para que ponga suficientes monedas para todos.
• Favor de solo tomar una moneda por jugador e indicar en los logs cuantas se llevaron con tal de llevar registro y preveer para futuros jugadores.

El Cerro de Xochitepec:

La región del sur de la CDMX solía ser agricultora, ya que ellos eran quienes abastecían de alimentos a México Tenochtitlán gracias a la presencia de agua dulce. Por esto es que en esta zona los vestigios, templos y pirámides son más sencillos y chicos, a diferencia de otras pirámides más famosas de México. Los adoratorios de la zona también estaban enfocados a eventos astronómicos enfocados en el calendario, ya que la región dependía de las cosechas exitosas. Por esto último es que desde la cima de este cerro se encuentras todos estos vestigios, ya que este lugar servía para observar el solsticio de invierno. Al igual que el cache "El Solsticio", desde este sitio se puede apreciar como el Sol sale por la punta del Popocatépetl únicamente durante el amanecer del solsticio de invierno gracias a que estos dos observatorios arqueoastronómicos estan alineados. El cerro sobre el que te encuentras lleva el nombre de "El Cerro de Xochitepec", aunque popularmente se le conoce como "El Cerro de la Cruz", gracias a la cruz monumental de madera que encontrarás en la cima. En diferentes partes del cerro se observan múltiples vestigios arqueológicos visibles en la superficie, tales como cerámica, restos arquitectónicos, relieves y otras modificaciones a las rocas. En la plataforma de cemento sobre la cual reposa la cruz previamente mencionada, se concentran algunos de estos vestigios, lo que indica que esta base se construyó sobre los restos de una estructura prehispánica (¿una pirámide pequeña?). Sin embargo, las coordenadas publicadas apuntan a una roca tallada muy interesante ubicada a pocos metros al sur de la cruz, la cual tendrás que analizar para obtener una de los 6 dígitos correspondientes a las coordenadas finales.

Para el número 'Z': Las coordenadas publicadas marcan una maqueta tallada en roca, la cual tiene el mismo contorno que las siluetas en el horizonte. ¿Cuántas montañas estan representadas en esta maqueta? Multiplica este número por 4. 

Xochitepec's Hill

This cache belongs to the "Lost Archeology" series, and corresponds to the number 1/6. This series will take you to little known archeological sites on the south of the city, and will show you a little about the prehispanic history that can be found in the Xochimilco and Milpa Alta boroughs. Please take care of these national vestiges, and don't take any remains that you find along the way.

The Challenge:

In order for you to locate this cache, you'll need to find all of the other "Lost Archeology" caches, because on each container there's a clue that will allow you to get the final coordinates that will make you reach this cache's logbook. For those who complete the challenge there's a small reward waiting for you in the container: It's a conmemorative token that you'll be able to take home!

Notes:

• The container only holds 5 tokens at a time.
• If you're planning on visiting with a large group you can message me a couple days in advance indicating the number of assistants so I can place enough tokens for all the involved players.
• Please take only one toke per player, and tell me in the logbook how many tokens you take so I can forsee when to restock them for future players.

Xochitepec's Hill

Mexico City's southern region used to be dedicated for agriculture, as this area was the one that supplied food for Tenochtitlán thanks to the presence of fresh water. That's why this region's remains, temples and pyramids are smaller and humbler compared to other famous mexican ancient ruins. The shrines in the area where also focused on astronomical events related to the calendar dates, as the entire region deppended on succesful crops. Because of this you can find many remains on this hill, as the hilltop served the purpose of observing when the winter's solstice arrived. Just as the cache "The Solstice", from here you can witness how the Sun raises directly from Popocatepetl's tip only during the day of the winter solstice. This is because both archeoastronomical observatories are aligned. The hill where you're standing carries the name "El Cerro de Xochitepec" (Xochitepec's hill), even though a lot of the locals know it by "El Cerro de la Cruz" (The Cross's Hill) because of the monumental cross that you'll find on the hilltop. On different parts of the hill there are multiple visible archeological vestiges on the surface, such as ceramics, arquitectonic remains, carvings and other modifications to the rocks. In the concrete platform, on which the giant wooden cross stands, some of these vestiges are concentrated, which indicates that said base was built on top of the remains of some sort of prehispanic structure (a small pyramid perhaps?). Nevertheless, the published coordinates point to a very interesting carved rock, a couple meters south of the cross. You'll have to analyse said rock in order to obtain one of the 6 missing numbers on the final coordinates.
