This cache is in the new Riverbend Park in Kingsport. There has long been a rough trail here along the river, starting at the end of Wesley Road. The city has constructed a nice new trail here, and will be adding many more features to this new park as time goes on.
I visited the new trail with my two favorite geopups, Andy and John Wesley. Andy is the more adventuresome of the two, having hiked many a mile with me. But JW was the first pup to cache with me back in the day. At the time I started geocaching, JW went to work with me every day. He even had a title: Director of Hospitality. He was a great ambassador of happiness in our office, greeting each and every visitor with love. If he and I were on vacation, it was JW that visitors asked about, not me. As I started to learn the game, I spent many a lunch hour finding caches near our office with JW in tow. He and I spent time hiking at Buffalo Mountain and the woods at East Tennessee State University. Back then, he was the smallest member of our pack (and the boss) but kept up with the bigger guys with no problems.
JW is slowing down now. He is the oldest of our current pack, turning 15 years old on March 7, 2023. He can only make it about .10 of a mile on foot, then enjoys riding in his special backpack. I didn't have the backpack with me the day I hid this cache, so had to carry him in my arms.
I am naming this cache in honor of this great pup. It is just coincidence that the name of the nearby road is Wesley.
