São Bento Menni (1841-1914) foi um padre católico espanhol que fundou a Congregação Hospitalária de São João de Deus, dedicada à assistência aos doentes mentais e outras pessoas necessitadas.
Nasceu em Milão, Itália, mas cresceu na Espanha e estudou no seminário de Barcelona. Em 1867 foi ordenado padre e começou a trabalhar no hospital psiquiátrico de Ciempozuelos, em Espanha. Apercebendo-se da grande necessidade de cuidados especiais dos doentes mentais, decidiu fundar uma congregação religiosa dedicada a atender a essas necessidades.
São Bento Menni fundou a Congregação Hospitalária de São João de Deus em 1881 e expandiu o seu trabalho pelo mundo, incluindo Europa, América Latina e África. Morreu em Dinan, França, em 24 de abril de 1914, e foi canonizado pelo Papa João Paulo II em 1999.

Saint Benedict Menni (1841-1914) was a Spanish Catholic priest who founded the Hospitaller Congregation of Saint John of God, dedicated to assisting the mentally ill and other needy people.
He was born in Milan, Italy, but grew up in Spain and studied at the seminary in Barcelona. In 1867 he was ordained a priest and began working at the psychiatric hospital in Ciempozuelos, Spain. Realizing the great need for special care of the mentally ill, he decided to found a religious congregation dedicated to meeting these needs.
Saint Benedict Menni founded the Congregation Hospitalaria de São João de Deus in 1881 and expanded its work throughout the world, including Europe, Latin America and Africa. He died in Dinan, France, on April 24, 1914, and was canonized by Pope John Paul II in 1999.
