Geocache Description:

10 June 2023, 11:00 - 18:00

***PLEASE NOTE the times and locations of the various components of the larger event in the description and waypoints below.***

(No purchase necessary, nor does one need to take part in all components of the larger event in order, to attend.)

WHAT: Oklahoma's Spring Fling 2023

The larger event has several components available for geocachers to participate in during the time windows listed below.  If you wish, you may participate in all components, but you will need to plan your own personal schedule within the schedule below to do so.  Likewise, attendees do not need to participate in all of the Event components, as you may want to eat, rest, sightsee around Oklahoma City, or grab some of the local geocaches that are, or will be going, active in the area over the course of the Event.

WHERE: Oklahoma City, OK's Scissortail & Wiley Post Park and Bricktown areas

WHEN: Saturday, June 10, 2023 -- 11:00am - 6:00pm

Several local geocachers will be "hubbed" around the Ground Zero coordinates of the Event during this time frame to answer questions, get folks pointed in the right direction(s), and oversee some of the shorter geo-games that will be offered.  The large, nearby pavilion we will end our Event under has been reserved by another group from 9:30am-1:30pm--the earliest our group can begin using this pavilion, then, is after the first group exits.  However, this Pavilion is reserved exclusively for our group from 4:00-6:00pm.

TO-BRING's (if needed/wanted): A camping/folding chair; any small geocaching items you wish to trade; and TOTT's, i.e., Tools Of The Trade--(well, you never know, and you should always be prepared!)

BE AWARE:  Parking in these parts of Oklahoma City range from free to metered (card-payment) depending upon where you choose to anchor your vehicle.  There is plenty of free parking available near the posted Event co-ordinates, the Geo-Challenge parking area, as well as near the Oklahoma Land Run Monument/River Walk in Bricktown.

Come join geocachers from around the state of Oklahoma, and elsewhere, in our 22nd consecutive Spring Fling geocaching event.  (I am told this is the second longest running annual geocaching event in the U.S.).  We're "city-fying" this event this year with the new updates to Oklahoma City's Bricktown and Scissortail Park areas.

There are local, popular attractions nearby like the Oklahoma Land Run Monument, the Oklahoma City Bombing Memorial, the Myriad Gardens Crystal Bridge, and the north and south ends of the new Scissortail Park connected across I-40 by the Skydance Bridge.  There are opportunities to take a river canal tour through Bricktown, a ride through Oklahoma City on its new trolley system, or rent a pedal-boat, kayak, or canoe and glide around Scissortail Park's lake.  If geocaching's your main aim, however, there are plenty of Geocaches and Adventure Labs around this part of town--and I have it on good authority there's a high likelihood you'll see some old caches updated and some new caches publish in the area between now and the end of the event.  (Consider yourselves *hinted*!)

Please see the Additional Waypoints on this cache page for the individual coordinates for the various elements of Spring Fling 2023:

11:00am-2:30pm      Geo-Challenges of Skill  (William Cole advises he will have these areas set up at 8:00am for those wanting to start earlier)

11:00am-2:00pm      Geo-Games of Mayhem (just northwest of Wiley Post Park Pavilion)

2:00-3:00pm             "Afternoon T-Time"  -  Trackables & Tag Trading

3:30pm                      Spring Fling '23 Group Picture - Scissortail Park Lake Bridge with the Devon Tower in the background (Brent Newman)

4:00-6:00pm              Final gathering for stories of the day's wonders, challenge awards, and raffle prizes (Wiley Post Park Covered Pavilion - reserved exclusively for our group during this time)
