Geocache Description:

SUMMARY: Waiting for God is a British sitcom that ran on BBC1 from 28 June 1990 to 27 October 1994 starring Graham Crowden as Tom and Stephanie Cole as Diana, two spirited residents of a retirement home who spend their time running rings around the home's oppressive management and their own families. The show became very successful, running for five series, and is still repeated in the UK on various channels, as well as being successful in the US and New Zealand. It came 37th in the poll for Britain's Best Sitcom.

Set at the fictional Bayview Retirement Home near Bournemouth, the show was based on Diana Trent and her relationship with Tom Ballard, a former accountant with semi-feigned dementia. He has been exiled there for the convenience of his family.

BOURNEMOUTH CONNECTION: TV crew took over their playground at Summerbee Junior School, back in the early 90s, whilst they filmed over at St Francis church opposite, which is where this cache can be found.

They also filmed at the junction of Cleveland Road/Windham Road, where there was a car crash scene. One local resident remembers cycling to work early one Sunday morning back in 1993 and saw a film crew by the bridge near St Clements church.

Other locations used in Bournemouth included a hen night scene in series 5, episodes 8, filmed on a Wednesday morning in the Zoo/Cage near the town centre, which had scantily-clad women. They got paid a tenner.

Perhaps one of the most unusual events to take place, which local residents may remember, is when the Sovereign Centre was being used to film a Christmas special  in September. The whole shopping complex was decked out as a Christmas scene with carols being played.
