Geocache Description:

Mount George is a beautiful and accessible location for a picnic or a bit of hiking. Lewis Firetrack is in the eastern side of the park, and is a lovely walk of various terrain. Come for a relaxing hills walk just 16km from the city centre, and grab some caches along the way.  Use the gates and paths provided to avoid backtracking.

The Lewis Firetrack #5 cache is just off the path, under a small rocky outcrop, look for a small pile of rocks. A 600ml plastic screw top container in green tape with an OZGrumpy green lid.  Take care to replace the lids tight to keep everything dry.

You can access this series of caches through the fence into the eastern segment. Use the gate and the paths as much as possible, don't go commando rogue, it's not necessary, the plants will likely snare and entrap you.  Maps show the firetrack leaving and re-entering the park, and at some stage it reduces to the Ridgeline track. Despite the path changes, I have named all of these Lewis Firetrack.  You will also notice a fence goes right through the middle of the park, maps do not seem to show this. For your benefit, I have not placed any caches outside this ring of eastern fencing, so don't be tempted to cross it.  Have fun, and most of all, enjoy your walk, stay safe. Tell someone where you are going, and what time you will return.

During the placements I encountered a variety of animals, the most prevalent were centipedes and docile inch ants, take care out there.
