This cache is located not far from a trail in the Homochitto National Forest. This is an EXCELLENT area for camping, hiking, and some great mountain biking. We were suprised that there wasn't already a cache here. Stay the weekend. . .there's lots to do here.
The recommended approach for this one is to hike the entire trail around the lake. If you're facing the lake from the big pavilion, start walking to your left-the trail starts with a boardwalk across the lake. If you're in a hurry, though, you could probably find it quicker without enjoying the lake trail. Either way you go, depending on your skill/luck and recent rainfall, you could end up getting your feet wet.
The cache container is an ammo box, hidden where you'd expect a geocache to be hidden. The original contents are/were:
