In the classic book, To Kill A Mockingbird, Boo Radley left "treasures' in this type of location. Boo left gum, a ball of twine, a spelling bee medal and a few other treats for Jem and Scout. Find the treasures in this nice hide-away among the mature Oak Trees, in the Brooklyn Wildlife Area. Appreciate the Oak Savannah you are walking through, there are also areas of prairie restoration nearby where prairie grasses have been planted. Enjoy the short walk from the parking lot (located at N42 51.831 W 089 28.078)--cross the stream, then there is a path that leads in the general direction of the cache. It's fairly open terrain, so not much bush-whacking for this short hike.
The area is popular, at times, with walkers, dog-walkers and hunters. During hunting seasons it's helpful to wear an orange hat for visibility. Enjoy the find and the area. The Geocache Notification Form has been submitted to Wisconsin DNR land manager, Julie Widholm. Geocaches placed on Wisconsin Department of Natural Resource managed lands require permission by means of notification form 2500-118.
