This nice little park honors a former mayor, features a Jurustic Park statue, has plenty of beautiful shrubs and flowers, and is home to 20 unique murals depicting some of the history of Marshfield. Some say that everything in the park is too perfect, that it couldn’t have been created entirely by humans. It is widely thought that skillful pixies did almost everything…they grew all of the plants and flowers, they used their expert craftsmanship to shape the statue and used their pixie dust to create the murals you see today. The only thing humans did was create some human readable signs and put a fence around the park. Makes sense to me.
Some people are still skeptical because they have never seen a pixie in Hardacre Park. The reason for that is pixies are very shy and don’t like being seen by humans. At the first sign of a human they scatter and hide. Since it is a small park they don’t have many places to hide, but thanks to their pixie dust they can hide almost undetectable. At the first sign of trouble they zip into those magical murals they created and take refuge in the buildings painted on each of them. Some say when looking at the murals they can sometimes see movement out of the corner of their eyes, but when asked they are not exactly sure what it was. Maybe just a bumble bee, grasshopper or common housefly. Keep your eyes peeled for anything unusual when you are here and log anything you see. Also, I know that you are probably thinking it, but no…the cache isn’t inside any of the murals.
Permission was given by Ben Steinbach, Parks Superintendent. Hardacre park is open from 6:00am-10:30pm. During winter it is usually closed for the season, but the cache can still be found year round. BYOP.
