Today’s is brought to you by the letter “W” for Waymarking
WAYMARKING – In 2005, Locationless/Reverse caches were archived and future Virtual, Webcam caches
were prohibited in Geocacing.com and Waymarking was created to provide a place to share interesting, unique and historical locations on the Earth by giving the location’s coordinates and information and photos about that location. Waymarking.com is the official site that provides tools for you to catalog, mark and visit interesting and useful locations around the world.
There are over 1,000,000 Waymarks worldwide and over 1,000 different categories. Like Geocaching, Waymarking Categories are managed and monitored by volunteers. Unlike Geocaching where one volunteer is responsible for all Geocaches published in their assigned area, Waymarking Categories must have a group of a minimum of 3 volunteers who agree to support that category before a category can be approved and published in Waymarking.
