Geocache Description:

Sheffield Conservation Area  is nestled within the Canadian Shield. The area offers an advanced 4.5 km trail that loops through the property and provides hikers with a birds-eye view of Little Melon Lake. The area also contains a water access point for launching a canoe or kayak. Part of the property is home to a dark sky viewing area that is maintained by the county of Lennox and Addington.

Sturdy footwear is reccomended for this trail, and bring lots of drinking water.

We recently discovered that a new set of trails had been established here, with no caches, so set out to rectify the situation. It took us about 2 1/2 hours to hike the loop, placing caches along the way.

The terrain rating, for the most parts, reflects the length of the hike as well as the terrain conditions. You are hiking on the Canadian Shield with lots of rocks and ups and downs.

You can find a map of the trail here:

There is a fee for parking at the Conservation Area, but parking is free at the nearby Dark Sky Viewing area.
