Geocache Description:

30 September 2023, 11:00 - 14:00

Join us on 30th of September for this annual event. Every year we plan to put on a picnic/camping event choosing a different location each year in Kentucky and Southern Indiana. This year we will be at Big Bone Lick State Park just South of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Schedule:

Mastodon Shelter 11:00 am - Registration (sign the log, grab a nametag & get ticket for door prizes!)
11:15am Group photo will be taken.

*The Great Pumpkin returns along with an old fashioned how fast can you manually put a coordinate in your GPS contest (so be practicing the old lost art of entering coordinates manually).

12:00 pm - Lunch (see details below)
1:00 pm - Game prizes awarded
2:00 pm - Clean up and head out! We plan to set up over at the shelter (Mastodon) and we have the shelter rented so you are welcome to hang out after the event, and relax afterwards.

*Note: There is a playground and restrooms nearby.

Pitch-In Lunch:

Plates, plastic ware and napkins will be provided. If you would like to join in, please bring your own entree and drinks, plus a dish to share. If your last name begins with N-Z, we ask that you bring a dessert. If your last name begins with A-M, a side dish is preferred -- this should keep the mix pretty even.

There should be plenty of picnic table seating, but if you prefer to bring your own chair, please feel free.

Notes:

There is no admission fee to enter the state park.

Camping:

Camping is not required for you to attend this event, you will miss out on lots of fun but we will be glad to see you at the event no matter what you decide.

Camp sites are available through the Reserve America website (the event hosts (Turtle3863 & Better Half Shell) are camping on site 33) most of the sites were available at time of this event posting (but go fast because this is prime season for camping). A campground map will be uploaded to facebook for this event showing existing reservations. We will update as necessary -- if you would like your site on the map, please post your reserved site number here or on the Facebook event page.
