Geocache Description:

Ofukemaru

The unfamiliar name “Ofukemaru” comes from the fact that the swampy area on the north side of Ofukemaru (now Meijo Park) was called “Fuke”. The first feudal lord of Nagoya Castle built the “Ofukemaru Garden” centered around a large pond. It is said that the garden at that time was much larger than Meijo Park. The Ofukemaru area inside the castle is surrounded by deep greenery, and the sunlight filtering through the trees is a pleasant place. From the GZ, you can see a view that shows Nagoya Castle is located on the northern edge of the Atsuta Plateau. The difference in elevation from the land on the other side of the river is 10 m. So this is a natural fortification.
