Geocache Description:

The Bullshot field was named after a bull that got struck by lightning. The field currently is being used for grazing horses. The field is within Green Belt land. The land was owned by the Earl of Derby, landowner and politician. The fields used to be used by hop pickers from London. Along Mill Lane, Astaurias, this once once owned by Hyla Stallard, who was the 4th British member in Chariots of Fire. You will see him falling in the film as he broke his toe, he won Bronze in the 1924 Paris Olympics. He became an eye surgeon after running in the Olympics. He had a very good sense of humour.

The garage on the right used to be a forge and just past the garage on the left, is an old mill in between the garage and shambles, though it is a bit hard to see now with all the trees. Along the verge sometimes you can see wild strawberries and woodland anemones, a sign of ancient woodland. along the top of Watts Cross Road sometimes you can see gloworms on the verge in the summer and some times slow worms crawling around.  In WW2 one of the the oasthouse on the farm was hit by a Doodlebug. In the autumn some times you can see bats and at night badgers.

Caution and Notes: The footpath goes from the B245London Road to Mill Lane. If walking along Mill Lane, it is recommended you use Hi-Viz as there is no  pavement for pedestrians and the lane is up to 60mph. The 402 bus stops at the bus stop and goes to Tonbridge, on the other side Sevenoaks.  The cars travel fast here,  Please keep dogs on the lead and do not feed the horses as they could get very sick.

Where is the cache?

You will see a wooden stile at the footpath. There are 2 neighbourhood watch posters, one at the stile and behind the stile IN the field, if you are on the B245. The cache is in a tree just on the right of the 2nd neighbourhood watch poster, chest level.  It is in a transparent lunch box with a green top. Please put something nice for the other hikers in it and log the sheet. The cache was moved to a better location previously. Watch out for natural hazards like nettles. The weather has been a bit bad lately and sometimes the log has got wet has has to be replaced. I haven't found a replacement box yet.

I haven't put parking on the waypoints, mainly as it is a bit hit and miss. There is a bit of parking  on the verge at the top of Mill Lane on the left. There is a pavement from the top of Mill Lane andf from foxbush, Hildenborough.  If you are a cyclist, it is recommend you go on foot on the pavement as the road is quite fast on London Road and an an absolute nightmare to cross and use, foxbush is better as 30pmph. . It is 40mph from foxbush  and road is sfull of fast drivers with zero concern for cyclists coming from m25 and a25, b245. There is a pavement all the from Foxbush to the site at watts cross, London road. There is also a pavement along watts cross to the Hildenborough train station. On foot it isn't too bad, just a bit out of the way.
