🇮🇹 Il quartiere Cenisia fa parte della Circoscrizione 3 di Torino ed è situato nella zona centro-occidentale della città.
Il suo nome deriva dall'omonima strada che percorreva il territorio dell'attuale quartiere, provenendo dalla vicina Val di Susa e dal valico del Moncenisio, passando attraverso la Porta Segusina. Fu il punto nevralgico dell'assedio francese del 1704, dove questi ultimi intercettavano i rifornimenti che provenivano, appunto, da Susa.
Dopo la forte crescita demografica e urbanistica del quartiere dettata dalla vocazione industriale della città nei primi anni del '900 - e la conseguente inversione di tendenza con la chiusura degli stabilimenti vicini negli anni '80 - il quartiere ha giovato di progetti riqualificanti a livello residenziale e commerciale.
Oggi il quartiere brulica di vita ogni mattina dal lunedì al sabato, grazie al suo ricco mercato rionale! Consiglio infatti di venire a cercare la cache proprio durante il mercato, per farsi un bel giro tra le bancarelle piene di leccornie!
🇬🇧 The Cenisia district is part of Circoscrizione 3 of Turin and is located in the central-western area of the city.
Its name derives from the homonymous road that ran through the territory of the current district, coming from the nearby Val di Susa and from the Moncenisio pass, going through the Porta Segusina. It was the focal point of the French siege of 1704, where the latter intercepted supplies that came from Susa.
After the strong demographic and urban growth of the district dictated by the industrial vocation of the city in the early 1900s - and the consequent turnaround with the closure of nearby factories in the 1980s - the district benefited from residential and commercial redevelopment projects.
Today the neighborhood is teeming with life every morning from Monday to Saturday, thanks to its rich local market! In fact, I recommend coming to look for the cache right during the market, to take a nice tour of the stalls full of goodies!
