This Cache is placed as part of the 2023 Taconic Region Geocaching Challenge. Please see HH 1 for more information.  This stamp is NOT a trade item, nor is the special pencil.

About this cache:This cache is located just north of the trail. In 1781, Alexander Hamilton left Washington’s headquarters across the river in Newburgh to live at the de Peyster house on the point. It was here where he wrote a series of essays known as the
“Continentalist”, which were the precursor to his Federalist Papers. In 1821, William Denning II bought the point, and
around this time a causeway was added to allow carriages onto the island, making it a peninsula.
