Maker Magic: Quality Events
Welcome to Fäboda in Jakobstad, a beautiful beach by the ocean. I'm thrillled to invite you to this Maker Magic Event: "Quality Events".
When we talk about quality geocaches we often talk about a great geocache we've found, a great camo and so on. But we often forget to talk about great events. One reason might be that we can't give favorite points to them. I have attended over 1000 events and hosted over 400 events. Many of the events I've attended have been absolutely great but many of them have unfortunately not been that great. So, what makes an event great, what kind of events have higher quality than other events? These are questions we will discuss while we sit around the campfire watching the sunset over the ocean.
What is the definition of the word "quality"?
1. the standard of something as measured against other things of a similar kind; the degree of excellence of something
2. a distinctive attribute or characteristic possessed by someone or something.
What is the definition of "Event Caches"?
"An Event Cache is a gathering of geocachers, focusing on the social aspect of geocaching. It is organized by geocachers, for geocachers and those interested in learning the game."
We will discuss topics related to hosting an quality event.
- Groundspeak's rules on hosting an event
- Planning an event
- Do's & Dont's
- Submitting the event for publication
- Cache page features
- Location, Location, LOCATION!
While I will be preparing and presenting talking points around this topic, I really want audience participation! Bring not only your questions, but bring your perspective, experience and opinions! I am certainly not the absolute expert on all these things, and I'm confident we'll have event hosts in attendance and I value their (your) input into the discussion!
Geocachers who log “Attended” on this Event will receive the official Maker Magic souvenir!
Welcome!
