Recently I was exploring some streets in Swanson to find special places to hide geocaches .
And a few weeks ago I found this place which is perfect !
This is my second cache near a Memorial Seat....But this one is really tucked away; off a track near Swanson Stream .
However would not recommend for unsupervised young kids as it is near a stream which is pretty full currently and fast flowing !
Also NOT to be done at night.....Even with a torch I went the wrong way the other night !
You can access the steps to the track from Parklands Avenue off Swanson Rd ..
Go down the road and near the blind end you will see a cobbled parking bay on your right ...You can pull over there .
Where you see a sign about Rat Poison ( no Dogs sorry !) you will see about 10 steps leading down.
Turn right at the bottom and follow concrete path...Mind out for small uneven section by 2 cones !
After about 40 steps from the cones you should be near some steps on your left ! You will hear the sound of rushing water too !
Head down the steps and you will be at the Memorial Seat for Judth Margaret Chitty 1946 to 2008
I didn't sit on it this visit as it was wet !
Unfortunately I couldn't find out anything about her ; but I intend to ask a local Historian...
.Enjoy the solitude and rushing water close by ....Sad to see the amount of destruction of trees which have fallen into the river in the last 2 big local Flood Events.
Look at the solid concrete legs under the seat which kept it safe !
Anyway out of respect the cache isn't attached or under the seat.
Start walking back up the steps and you will notice a very odd one ...about number 5
Where would supernannny hide the cache ?????
Very cute container by the way which a local cacher made ....
