Geocache Description:

ENG: Dutchmen were in 1521 invited, by the king Christian 2, to cultivate vegetables on Amager to provide his wife, Queen Elizabeth, with vegetables. Recent research suggests that immigrants in Store Magleby (Dutch: Grote Magle Bij) came from several places in the Netherlands, including the current Belgium, where Elizabeth came from. The Dutch had far-reaching legal and economic privileges such as exemption from taxation, the right to use and keep the island of Amager as property and their own justice. 'Hollænderbyen' (Town of Dutch) as the city is also called.
