Aquest catxé explora l'estat actual de Jafre, un indret del Garraf que ja no és el que era. Es pot fer de forma independent, però està pensat per fer-se conjuntament amb el misteri Jafre (1845) (GCA8BBH), que proposa una mirada enrere a un punt de la seva història.
Jafre és un poble actualment abandonat al massís del Garraf. L'orígen del seu nom segurament és àrab i es tractaria d'un nom propi - el primer esment de la població és de l'any 1139 (com a Iafer). Històricament era seu de baronia i tenia terme propi, tot i que religiosament ha estat lligat amb Olivella des del segle XV. A part del nucli central en formen part algunes masies disperses - a finals del segle XVIII eren 9 cases i uns 80 habitants. L'esglèsia o capella, dedicada a la Mare de Déu, sembla que va ser privada durant gran part de la seva existència, comptant amb rector només ocasionalment. Com tants altres pobles actualment abandonats, després de la guerra civil es va abandonar progressivament fins a quedar del tot despoblat als anys 50, i restant actives només alguns de les masies aïllades que encara es mantenen avui en dia. Actualment el nucli del poble és propietat de la Diputació de Barcelona.
Per trobar les coordenades finals, haureu de buscar uns quants valors al voltant del poble. En cap moment cal creuar la tanca que protegeix el nucli.
Localitzeu un edifici al SE del nucli, envoltat per una tanca separada (aprox. 50m 120º de les coordenades inicials). A serà el número d'obertures tapiades de la seva paret NE.
Situeu-vos davant de la porta d'entrada a l'esglèsia, a les coordenades inicials. B és el número de blocs de pedra que formen aquesta entrada. Un d'aquests blocs porta gravat l'any 1850, data de l'última reconstrucció de l'edifici.
Dalt de tot del campanar, per sobre dels forats on hi havien les campanes, hi ha una decoració que sembla una petxina. C és el nombre de puntes d'aquesta decoració. No la veureu bé des de davant la porta, haureu de pujar una mica i agafar perspectiva.

This cache explores the current state of Jafre, an abandoned village in the Garraf. The cache is standalone, but it's designed to be done with the mystery Jafre (1845) (GCA8BBH), that proposes a look back to a point in its history.
Jafre is a currently abandoned town in the Garraf massif. The origin of its name is probably Arabic and it would be a proper name - the first mention of the population is from the year 1139 (as Iafer). Historically, it was the seat of a barony and had its own term, although religiously it has been linked with Olivella since the 15th century. Apart from the central nucleus, some scattered farmhouses are part of it - at the end of the 18th century there were 9 houses and about 80 inhabitants. The church or chapel, dedicated to the Virgin Mary, seems to have been private for much of its existence, with a pastor only occasionally. Like so many other abandoned towns, after the civil war it was gradually abandoned until it was completely depopulated in the 1950s, and only some isolated farmhouses remained active to this day. Currently, the village ruins are owned by the Diputació de Barcelona.
To find the final coordinates, you will need to look for a few values around the village. You don't have to cross the fence that protects the main buildings.
Locate a building SE of the main center, surrounded by a separate fence (aprox. 50m 120º from the initial coordinates). A will be the number of walled openings in its NE wall.
Stand in front of the entrance door to the church, situated at the initial coordinates. B is the number of stone blocks that make up this entrance. One of these blocks is engraved with the year 1850, the date of the last reconstruction of the building.
At the very top of the bell tower, above the holes where the bells were, there is a decoration that looks like a shell. C is the number of points/spikes in this decoration. You won't see it well from in front of the door, you'll have to gain some perspective.
