Enos Throop was the tenth Governor of NY (1829 – 1832). He had been the Lieutenant Governor until Governor Martin Van Buren left the office after two-and-a-half months to become the US Secretary of State. Throop had previously served in the US House of Representatives, county clerk of Cayuga County, and postmaster of Auburn, NY. He was born in Johnstown, NY (Fulton County).
