Leslie Howard Steiner - 3rd April 1893 - 1st June 1943 - an English actor, director and producer. He was also involved in making anti-German propaganda.
It seems he spent his early life in Farquhar Road and went to Alleyn's School in Dulwich. Howard was aboard a KLM/BOAC 777 flight when it was shot down by the Luftwaffe.
